Nahuat Pipil (ppl). L1 users: 500 (2015 J. Stuart), increasing. New L2 users. Ethnic population: 11,100 (2005 census). (Ethnologue)

Location: Ahuachapan, La Libertad, San Salvador, Santa Ana, and Sonsonate departments. West, interior highlands.

Language status:

8a (Moribund). Recognized language (1993, Law to protect the national patrimony, Decree 513).

Dialects: intelligible among the documented four main dialects: 1. Santo Domingo de Guzmán-Tacuba, Izalco-Nahuizalco, La Libertad. Intelligible at certain extent with dialects of Southers Veracruz and Tabasco.

I investigated the El Salvadoran languages and from this source added a number to the TSV https://translatorswithoutborders.org/language-data-for-el-salvador
