An indigenous language is a language that is native to a region and spoken by indigenous peoples. Many indigenous languages are facing the danger of disappearing in the near future due to various factors and as new generations of indigenous people increase their literacy and use of technology, it is crucial that they are able to use their native language in new, digital formats to avoid the endangerment and loss of language.
To help preserve our human heritage, the unique histories of indigenous cultures and empower the next generation, Motorola embarked upon a digital inclusion initiative in the year 2020, aimed to integrate endangered indigenous languages into smartphones.
Last year in 2023, Ladin language from Italy was worked upon by Motorola. Motorola has worked closely with indigenous community and linguistic scholars in Italy to develop the locale data, in order to support it in Motorola Android Smartphone User Interface. We are now submitting this data to be added into CLDR so that it can be used for further development of the language.
From last year's experience (Kangri and Kuvi), we created this request to record the process and submit a form (core data needed for the new CLDR locale) to start the process.

you are right, . I confirm that Ladin is the same as Italian for both cardinal and ordinal numbers. (we also need to adapt the article for ordinals starting with 11,8,80,800... as they start with a vowel)

I think we need plural rule info in both plurals.xml (for cardinal numbers 1, 2, 3, etc) and ordinals.xml (for ordinal numbers 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.). Could you verify that Ladin is the same as Italian for both cardinal and ordinal numbers?

I’m working with Samuel Frontull to enter Ladin data, and we noticed that the plural information for Ladin is not set because the "one" entry does not appear in the the Survey Tool.
Could you please update the plural information for Ladin? It's the same as Italian/Catalan.
<pluralRules locales="ca it lld pt_PT vec">
Please ignore if Samuel already contacted you.

At the request of Samuel Frontull, “Core” data for the Ladin locale has been added to v46 of CLDR (see ). Ladin will be available in the Survey Tool for data entry starting 15 May 2024.
